Day 62 of MUC and day 15 of MOC, and the pond celebrates an old-fashioned Sunday meditation, thanks to Polonius, the Bolter and the Pellists ...

(Above: you can find that cartoon at Eureka Street, amongst the better class of Catholics and Bad week for Pell and the climate change deniers).

Being deeply conservative, the pond is as inclined to nostalgia and a yearning for the good old days as anyone ...

Once upon a time, not so long ago, the Pellists bestrode the Sunday pond page like scientific colossi or a colossal squid ...week in, week out, the Pellists would strut their hour in the pages of the Sunday Terror, and then the pond would faithfully regurgitate their deep insights ...

These days barely anyone remembers the Pellist contribution to climate science ... try to hunt it out at the Sydney archdiocese and this is what you get ...

Oh you careless infidels, you useless barbarians ...

Even worse, there are signs of heresy everywhere ... and it's not just the Indians, who have been having a fine record-breaking time of it ... India records its hottest day ever ...

Things are also pretty crook in Tallarook - good old Jack O'Hagan, as recorded by Tommy Trinder and his musical sheepshearers on Esquire - and in other outback places ...

Et tu Barners, et tu? You wonder, wonder, wonder ...?

Oh dear, what a way to conclude a portrait of a fine mind here, led astray into the valley of wickedness and consensus ...

Luckily, the full Pellist lecture can still be found in pdf form here, and it's full of wondrous scientific insights designed to return Barners to the straight and narrow ...

In dubio non agitur! What  a handy notion in science, and also when it comes to the matter of the molestation of children.

Do nothing and all will be well. But did the pond hear someone mutter in a bad google translation "e tuttavia ancora fatto sesso con i bambini"?

With the tabloid Murdochians having given up on the election on their front pages this Sunday, all this came back to the pond thanks to prattling Polonius, in top notch form yesterday for the reptiles.

Now first of all we might have to get into the right sort of mood ... mournful self-pity and a bizarre notion of fairness ...

Yep, that'll do it, that'll do it nicely ...

Astonishing stuff, but how pleasing to see that a ruffian well-dressed is clearly a thought crime as well as a breach of well-ordered decorum ...

As for fairness, there are probably a few about this time getting agitated at the concept of the fairness of the Melbourne solution, or the fair indifference the Pellists displayed to the suffering of others, or the remarkable contempt that the Pellists displayed giving evidence ...

And so on ... but never mind, because Polonius is here to prattle about that too ...

Ah, we've been here before with fastidious, fussy, pedantic Polonius ...

Naturally the Bolter was also wildly excited and regurgitated Polonius in copious style while adding a few obligatory lines of his own ...

Put it another way ... suffer the little children, and let them keep suffering because they dared to ask  a mighty fellow climate scientist and conservative warrior a few questions about what had gone on during his watch and his time in the church ...

Procedural fairness? Tell that to the poor buggers that got their dose of Pellist procedural fairness ...

Well you can find the full First Dog cartoon here, and that's more than enough for an indigestible Sunday meditation ...

  2. Nice to see a bit of gender equality at the top of your page, Dot. Justifiably in prime position too.

    Well done Soph.

    1. Gawd, wouldn't you just love to pop a billiard ball into that mouth? It probably wouldn't silence her for long, though.

  3. Stephen Crittenden sounds like an extremely tolerant and brave fellow. I suspect that if I was unfortunate enough to bump into Polonius in the street and was subjected to his droning interrogation, I'd quickly tell him to piss off or simply run away.

Still, it's nice of Gerry to note that even a Leftie for ABC employee can look vaguely respectable if he scrubs up and dons a suit and tie. Presumably he previously looked like either Philip Adams or Fidel Castro.

I suppose that when the Royal Commission's final report is released, the full resources of the Sydney Institute will be devoted to measuring its bias, based on the column inches and wordage devoted to the various witnesses?

BTW, was Mrs Fondlington called to give evidence?

  4. The Divine Miranda continued to provide fair and unbiased election coverage today. She wasn't fooled by Bill Shorten's attempt to project a humane image by comforting that car accident victim. Instead, she pointed out that the accident was all Shorten's (well, his road convoy's) fault!
